All NHPs that used to have a Drug Identification Number (DIN) are now required to have either a Natural Product Number (NPN) or a Homeopathic Medicine Number (DIN-HM). Our solution is available for Non-specific Health Claim-based HM-DINs Class 1 NHP Process and for Specific Claims Class 3 NHP Licensing processes.
In Canada, homeopathic medicines are licensed as DIN-HM. DIN means Drug Identification Number. It is issued to a drug product to be sold in the country. It is located on the label of prescription drug products that are authorized for sale. No homeopathic products are allowed for sale in Canada without DIN.
Under the NHP registration, Homeopathic Medicines are treated differently because they can contain or be manufactured using substances that are not otherwise monitored under the Natural Health Products Regulations. The unique designation for homeopathic drugs allows consumers and compliance professionals to identify the product as homeopathic medicine.
Licensing for non-specific health claim-based HM-DINs takes 10 days and follows the class 1 NHP process and documentation for submission. Specific health claims follow the class 3 NHP licensing process which can take up to 210 days for licensing after the submission acknowledgement letter has been received.
Our experts can help when it comes to DIN-HM Registration. In General, the registrations are done based on two types of health claims.
